Let Claude edit your reels.
A 25-second reel, cut from five raw phone clips, with nobody opening an editor. You drop your clips, type /video-edit, and Claude does the rest: it finds your best take of every line, cuts from your 4K originals, tucks the big words behind your head, and lays in captions, sound and animated inserts. One free skill. You give notes like you'd talk to an editor, and each round re-renders in about two minutes.
Pick your look
Three looks are built in. You choose a default when you set it up, then switch looks per section just by naming it in your script, like "you can get the cool girl aesthetic."
Bold
Kinetic lowercase words around you, the big ones tucked behind your head, and your punch word popping in yellow. If you can't decide, start here.Cool girl
Warm grade, calm lowercase text, one punch line in a yellow serif italic with little sparkles. The signature move: your own reels orbit around you.Cool dude
Dark editorial studio vibe. The room falls back, you stay lit. Tiny spaced-out capitals plus big serif words, with wide shots and close-ups alternating like a studio interview.Get the skill

Install it (no coding)
Open Claude Code (the Code tab in the Claude desktop app, or claude in your terminal), paste this into the chat, and hit Enter:
Install this skill for me: https://github.com/tenfoldmarc/video-edit-skill
Claude downloads the skill and tells you when it's ready. Then type /video-edit and hit Enter. The first time, it asks your name, your Instagram handle, your favourite look, and where your clips usually land (Downloads by default), then checks your tools and sets the rest up itself. About two minutes, one time.
Prefer the terminal? One line, copy the whole thing:
git clone https://github.com/tenfoldmarc/video-edit-skill ~/.claude/skills/video-edit
Then type claude to open Claude Code and /video-edit to start. Already have it? Paste this to grab the latest: Update the video-edit skill from https://github.com/tenfoldmarc/video-edit-skill
What it actually does
Transcribes every take
Finds your clips, makes contact sheets so it can see your setups, and transcribes everything with word-level timing. It knows exactly when you said what.Picks your best take of every line
Said a line five times? It rebuilds your script from your takes, keeps the cleanest one, and strips the dead air between sections. It shows you a table of which take it picked, then keeps going.Cuts the reel from your originals
With sharp punch-ins from 4K, so it's not one boring angle the whole way through.Cuts you out of the background
That's how the big words end up sitting behind your head.Applies your look
Captions, motion graphics, and subtle sound effects, in whichever of the three looks you picked.Builds animated inserts at the same time
Sub-agents work in parallel on things like an app on screen behind you, your Instagram profile getting followed on your call to action, or a file scrolling. The main edit keeps cooking while they work.Checks its own work
Everything stays inside the Instagram safe zone, every cut gets checked frame by frame, and you get a phone-ready copy to review. Then you give notes and it re-renders in about two minutes. How to film your clips
The edit is only as good as what you feed it. Four rules:
Shoot vertical, in 4Kif your phone allows. The punch-ins are cropped from your originals, so 4K keeps them sharp. One setup, one clipkeep the camera still for each setup. Want a new angle? Set up a new shot and start a new clip.Repeat a line till it landsmessed up? Don't stop recording. Say it again. The skill picks the best take and none of the flubs make the cut.Name the look in your scriptsay "you can get the cool girl aesthetic like this" and that section switches to cool girl. Or just tell it which look goes where when you run it.
Run it and give notes
Drop your clips in your Downloads folder (or wherever you told it during setup) and type:
/video-edit I just dropped 5 clips in my downloads
Want a different look per section? Say so:
/video-edit use the cool girl look when I say "the cool girl aesthetic", cool dude after that, bold everywhere else
Then watch the phone copy and talk to it like you'd talk to an editor, for example: "the captions feel too small, and cut the pause before 'or you can get'." It fixes exactly that and re-renders. Every version gets saved, so you can always go back.
What it does without you asking
Protects your facenever covers it with text or cards.Fixes the transcriptheard "Claude" as "cloud"? Your captions still say what you actually said.Credits other creatorson screen with their @handle whenever their reels show up.Never touches your originalsyour clips get read, never modified or deleted.Keeps sound subtleeffects never land louder than your voice.
What you'll need: a Mac or Linux computer (Apple Silicon is fastest for the background cutout), Claude Code, plus ffmpeg, Node.js 22+ and Python 3.10+. Optional: a free Apify account to pull your reels and profile stats automatically. On the first run the skill checks every tool and tells you the exact fix for anything missing. The video itself is rendered by the open-source HyperFrames engine.
